Powers

Sehanine's Blessing

Motes of Moonlight

The tip of the blade can place a mote of moonlight where it will remain for 2 hours, unless cancelled by the wielder, dispelled or negated by magical darkness. One mote can be placed per minute, for a maximum of 120 motes at any given time. Priests of Eilistraee, Sehanine and Selune standing in the center of a cluster of at least 7 motes are treated as if they were standing in the light of a full moon.

The silvery moonlight shed by the blade can also contain motes of moonlight, with up to 7 motes per 5' radius of shed light, with a maximum of 49 motes when shedding light out to 35'. The motes wander around within the globe of illumination like fireflies.

Moonfire

The moon light can be detached from the blade and sent as a cloud of up to 14 cubic feet of radiant light in any direction at 40' per round. The light is strong enought to read by and is treated as moonlight as strong as a full moon. The cloud can include up to 7 motes. The light lasts 14 rounds once it has left physical contact with the blade or wielder.

Once per day, the drifting moonfire can be set afire, unleashing a 10' wide and 30' long line of Moonfire directly away from the sword. The effect is equivalent to the 5th level Moonfire spell granted by Sahanine. The fire does 14 points of damage to any undead caught in its path, and 2d4 points of damage to any living creature. The path of "cold white fire" remains active for 1d4+2 rounds with the following lingering effects. All magical auras, including glyphs and wards, are revealed by a green glow. It reveals shape changed or polymorphed creatures, forcing them to their true form on a failed save, otherwise outlining them in silvery fire. All electrical attacks initiated within the path are negated, while those from outside are deflected.

Kiira

The blessing of Sehanine's moonfire binds the Ar'Gisir'Khilat to the Moonblade. Any wielder of the sword automatically gains access to the knowledge and mantle of the Kiira gemstone. Each wielder can augment the mantle.

The spirits of past sword wielders can access and activate the powers of the mantle on behalf of the sword or its current wielder.

Interactions

  • Chromatic Blade - The motes can shine any color but lose their moonlight quality.
  • Shadow Sword - The Shadow Sword cancels the moonfire features of the moonblade during melee combat.
  • Flame Tongue - Flaming and Sunshine cancel the moonfire features of the moonblade during melee combat.
  • Selune's Blessing - The Moonfire blessing enhances the Moonfire to last 22 rounds, and the flash causes 22 points of damage to undead in a 50' length path. The Motes of Moonlight increase in count to 75 with a radius of 45' or line of 220' for a duration of 3 hours.

Feature

A layer of silver over a wider layer of blue mithral plating on the sword's cutting edge creates a halo effect around the darkmetal blade core. The moonglow of the blade comes from the shiny halo area and the moonstone. Near the base of the blade, a couple of inches above the cross guard, the blade is flared in a circle with the image of the moon. Imbedded in the blade to be visible from both sides, just below the moon circle, is a 1/2 inch round clear moonstone that always displays an image of the moon in its current phase.

Rite

Lord Elian gathered 3 Starsingers and 7 Knights of the 7th Order of the Seven Sacred Mysteries, along with the silver dragon Khilat. The ceremony was held in an ancient moon temple high in the Star Mounts, under a bright full moon and clear sky in a field of Motes of Moonlight and a Moonbeam spell. Using a quart of Khilat's dragon blood, the Starsingers called Moonfire onto the alter to bathe Lord Elian and the sword. Each of the knights called forth Moon Blade spells in the shapes of their preferred swords and dubbed Lord Elian and the sword which absorbed each of the seven magic blades. Lord Elian cast Detect Spirits at the same moment his own spirit was bound to the blade and he watched it pass into the moonstone.
