Ar'Gisir'Khilat

From House of Khilat

This Kiira lore gem is a one and a half inch diameter brilliant white diamond with a light blue tint, cut with facets to display a seven pointed star.

Powers

Dragon Stone

The stone enhances silver dragon magic, so that it is cast at one age category higher than the dragon, or at one level higher for the Draconic Wizard.

Dragon Gem

Dragon Spirits

The gem can serve as the host for dragon spirits. When a dragon bearing the gem dies, it may choose to bind its spirit to the gem. If the dragon has not yet reached twilight age, it may be possible to raise or resurrect the dragon.

The spirit bound to the gem retains its personality and knowledge, though the personality can change over time. The spirit has basic sensory powers for its immediate environment, including hearing, sight, smell and even touch. If the dragon stone is in its lair, then the dragon has complete knowledge of everything that happens in the lair. If a stone stays in a place for centuries, then that place is considered a lair, with complete knowledge of everything that happens.

When a dragon reaches its final stages of life it may choose to ascend to become a dragon guardian, typically merging into the natural landscape. The Dragon Stone can be used as the host of an ascended guardian dragon. The most recent ascending dragon to bind their spirit to a dragon stone becomes the controlling spirit. All other dragon spirits can add their voice to decisions and enhance the controlling dragons powers.

Dragon Stones are often prized as phylactries for dracoliches, though they are only useful for the kind of dragon that the stone matches.

The gem holds the ascended spirit of the Great Silver Wyrm Khilat.

Mantle

Glaeth initially wore the thaelkiira and augmented it at each level. The powers of the mantle are transferred to each owner who successfully passes an intelligence check for the Kiira. The powers of the mantle are fairly set, and any attemp to enhance it with a new power runs the risk of destroying the gem, but the wearer can replace an existing spell of the mantle with another of the same level with minimal risk, and if the spell is of the same general nature then no risk at all. In this way, almost all of the mantle spells contain minor variations from the standard versions, providing small benefits.

  • Detect Draconic Heritage 10' radius - the mantle has the power to detect creatures with dragon heritage if that heritage is sufficiently strong enough to activate magic items restricted to dragon kind, or to express a Draconic trait.
    • Kiira wearer can make an intelligence check to see if they can determine the strongest dragon type in the bloodline. The wearer can determine Silver, Shadow or Deep heritage with +2 on the attemp, and can detect any other type if there has been a personal encounter with a dragon of that type while wearing the Kiira, and the kind of dragon was clearly identified during the encounter.

Activating the mantle for a 24 hour period requires the owner to pay with a hit point which is temporarily lost. Protective and defensive spells will operate continuously, unless they have a limited capacity that expires at a set number of actions.
