Chiliad is a half-Elf of Moon Elf descent on his mother's side. His mother is a Moon Elf of the House of Khilat, a very old family. His human father is from a the noble House of Chiliad of Cormyr.

Chiliad Khilat was born to the Lady Luviel Khilat of Evereska and Sir Jeldean Chiliad of the noble House of Chiliad of Cormyr. Lady Luviel met Sir Jeldean at the Elven Court while visiting relatives in that realm. After he met her, the aging knight retired and left the service of King Rhigaerd II of Cormyr, and married Lady Luviel.

Lady Luviel is a well know Mage at the College of Magic in Evereska. The House of Khilat has considerable power in Evereska. Though all her relatives who lived at the Elven Court have moved to Evermeet, she still keeps in touch with them, including the wife of her second cousin, King Zaor of Evermeet. Her family disapproves of her marriage to Sir Jeldean and refuses to allow her family possessions to pass to the hands of their children. Since she was only 105 years old when she married, they expect her to remarry an Elf and bear children who will live long enough to deserve what allotment of family wealth they are due according to her status.

Sir Jeldean once served as a knight in a special force that served King Rhigaerd II of Cormyr. Rhigaerd sent Jeldean to the Elven Court as a messenger. When Jeldean returned, he informed the King of his intentions to marry Lady Luviel and move to Evereska. Though saddened, Rhigaerd told Jeldean that his family estate, a house in Suzail, would remain his for as long as he was known to be alive. King Azoun IV knows of his fathers desires in this matter, and is likely to honor a valid claim to the estate or renew the family charter.

Sir Jeldean and Lady Luviel had two children before Sir Jeldean's bastard son arrived in Evereska seeking out his father and birthright. The elves of Evereska drove him out due to his evil tendencies, but not before he claimed a great deal of wealth from his father. Shortly after this, the Lady Luviel unexpectedly conceived Chiliad, a late comfort to both their hearts.

Chiliad's older brother, named Jeldean after his father, was born two years after his parents marriage
