Nimbus Tongue

From House of Khilat

The sword has moon phases as relief images on the blade, with a full moon near the crosspiece with alternating waxing and waning phases progressing towards the sword tip. The quarter and crescent phases near the tip dovetail into each other and are cut out of the blade. Swinging the sword causes a whistling sound. The pommel holds a round smooth piece of cloudy quartz nearly 1 inch in diameter that seems to have a skein of silver thread floating in it.

The sword is immune to air and water based attacks and barriers, attacking unhindered through them. The blade simply passes through as if it were not there, including gale force winds and solid manifestations such as ice. The word can hack and carve through the magical cloud formations of the Silver Skeins with ease.

Powers

The sword behaves as a standard sword of dancing, gaining +1 plus per round of use until it reaches +4, after which it drops back to +1. In the hands of a bard, the blade will dance for either 4 rounds or a number of rounds equal to the bard’s experience level.

If stood upright, the sword will whistle if any creature approaches with intent to harm the wielder.

  • Opponents successfully hit will glow with blue Faerie Fire for 10 rounds. Makes opponents +2 to hit in the dark, and +1 to hit in twilight. Makes invisible opponents easy visible targets. The wielder can choose to ‘write’ in blue Faerie Fire on objects that will last for 2 turns.
  • Once per day, for the duration of concentration, the sword can produce theatrical cantrip effects. Any illusions produced have a wispy fog like quality with no chance of being believed as real.
  • Thunder Clap once per day, 120’ long and 3’ wide at the end. All within this area must roll a successful saving throw vs. spell. Those who save are stunned for 1 round and deafened for 2. Those who fail sustain 1d10 points of damage, are stunned for 2 rounds and deafened for 4 rounds.
  • Call Lightning once per week, one bolt per round for up to 8 rounds causing 2d8 of damage to all within the 10’ area of the strike, which can be up to 360 yards away. Summoning the bolt requires complete concentration and appropriate weather. Once per day while in the Cloud Castle.
