Chiming Elven Chain Mail

From House of Khilat

The shirt is made of fine dull white platinum alloy, with the appearance of a fine white silk shirt. It is odorless, and its matte finish avoids reflecting light. The front has a faint image of a harp covered in silver leaves, artfully depicted with carefully plated individual chain links. The collar, sleeves and bottom are frilled with strings of chain that dangle and tinkle like small wind chimes. Some suits have small gems of various colors mounted at the ends of the chain frills.

Powers

As light as a normal set of clothes, the suit weighs a mere 5 pounds, which is not counted when figuring movement rate. It can easily be worn under normal clothing without revealing its presence. The mail provides freedom of movement equivalent to wearing no armor so that it does not inhibit bard skills or spell casting.

While the slightest movement can set off a cascade of tinkling, the armor can be silenced on command, which is usually done during anybodies musical performance. This does not mean that the wearer can automatically move silently, but that the armor makes no noise.

When a bard or priest of Milil exerts influence on an audience during a performance, he can will the suit to provide a nimbus of faerie fire that fades shortly after the performance is completed. If the wearer doesn't specify a color, the faerie fire will be a pale golden radiance.

When a bard is inspiring his allies, their active weapons will glow with blue-white faerie fire for as long as they receive the melee bonus in combat, which lasts one round per level of the bard. All weapons are affected; magical and non-magical alike.

The armor will provide a warning about anyone with intent to attack the wearer by causing any weapons they bear to glow with red faerie fire when they are within 15 feet. Further, if the weapon sheds magical light, either continuous or an available temporary light power, that light will be activated at its highest intensity. The red glow will bleed through any light shed by the weapon, though the shed light could outshine the faerie fire or not be visible if the shed light is also red in color. As a general rule, if the light can cause temporary blindness, the faerie fire will not be visible, even to those immune to being blinded.

While wearing the armor, a paladin of Milil has an expanded aura of protection extending to 15 feet and reducing attack rolls by -2 for summoned and evil opponents.

The armor always stays clean. Dirt and stains fall away from the mail quickly, and regular movement will leave the shirt spotless within half an hour. Neither will the shirt show any scratches, which automatically mend at dawn. It is immune to damage from acid. Actual damage to the armor is mended at the rate of 5 points a day. Damage of more than 40 points completely destroys the suit and it looses all magical powers.

This armor will magically resize to fit elves, half-elves and humans. The armor has a 40% chance of fitting other humanoid creatures, with an additional 20% added if they worship Milil.
