Akthen

Akthen, the Stonebiter, has a handle of natural stalactite formed from dripping basalt lava with numerous white crystal gems speckling the length. The labrys style double blade has a blue quartz crystal core covered by a strange dull dark grey material with a matte finish that looks to be a cross between stone and steel. In the center of each semi-circular blade the grey material is cut away in the shape of a five pointed star. The quartz has a dull blue glow making the design dimly visible in the dark.

Powers

Battle Axe +3, +5 vs Earth elementals and Stone golems

Akthen can be hurled as an Axe of Hurling doing double damage (2d8/2d8 +3) and automatically returning to its wielder, typically glancing off walls and ceiling when underground. The axe can be hurled up to 180 feet, and it returns to the thrower in the same round, whether or not it scores a hit. The blade can cut chips out of stone like chopping a large tree. Akthen has the following powers:

• Determine direction and depth underground at will.
• Reduce a 10x10x10 area of solid rock to rubble once per day.
• Earthquake with 60 foot diameter once per week.

Akthen is an intelligent weapon (intelligence 14, Ego 12) with a female identity who will only serve Lawful Good dwarves. She can communicate by speech or Telepathy, but will rarely do so, and most often in whispers or words in dreams.
