Zannan was was inducted into the Harpers as an agent after his impromptu assistance with a Harper assignment involving political manipulations. Zannan was very discrete about his membership and was nominated to become a Herald in-training. King Azoun IV chartered him as a local Herald in Suzail to watch over certain noble families in the city, where he was assigned to the recently renewed House of Chiliad.

Zannan maintains a very careful balance between his loyalties to the Harpers, Heralds, King Azoun IV and Chiliad. He respects the need of the Heralds to be neutral and just, while he feeds information to the Harper network to defeat evil.
