Vel'Nikerym was original loyal to his Tulani Lord Sultaasarn, who assigned his unit as personal guards to his young Tulani daughter Ary'a'sum. When Ary'a'sum established her own court, he continued his duties within her court. As one of the First Patriarchs within the court, he is afforded much respect, giving even the staunchest Ghaele pause.

Due to his hours of meditation and devotion to his deities, Vel'Nikerym has an unusual relationship to his gods. Most of his powers and spells are provided by Sehanine as part of the triune aspects of Angharradh. Eilistraee took a particular interest in the knight, and Sehanine graciously allowed her servant to serve Eilistraee whom she considers an adopted daughter. Milil's elven aspect has also calls upon Vel'Nikerym's service as a temporary proxy.

As a proxy of Eilistraee, he has been transformed into a shining knight surrounded by a silvery nimbus of light. His charisma is 20, exceeding the normal charisma of the Shiere. He has a mystical religious devotion making him behave much like a divinate paladin.
