=== Weapon Skill  ===
The wielder can cast spells through the sword.  Spells that can be cast through the sword include memorized arcane and divine spells, as well as spells cast from various worn magic items, including beluths, bracers, mantles, rings, etc.

The blade provides the verbal, somatic and standard material components.  Spell components valued less than 50 gp are provided by the sword, unless the component is the object of the spell.  Special or costly components of a spell must still be provided by the spellcaster, as needed. Spells delivered by touch can be delivered with a touch of the blade.

While casting spells, the wielder can only take defensive actions such as parrying and improving Armor Class. The only offensive actions allowed include delivering spell effects by touch, which may require a successful hit. Any actions that would ruin spell casting still apply, including being successful struck by an opponent.

Spells from the wielder’s area of specialty are cast through the sword with an additional level of spell casting. This includes a wizard’s school(s) of specialization, a war wizard’s spells of choice, priest spells exclusive to their chosen deity, a specialty priest’s granted powers, and bards casting spells from the school of song.

If the sacrificed spell doesn’t have a particular energy type, the sword’s bonus to hit increases by +1 with an additional +1 per every 3 spell levels, lasting for a number of rounds equal to the caster’s level divided by 3 and rounded down.  The wielder also gains an initiative bonus of +1 for every 3 spell levels on the round following spell casting. Casting subsequent spells does not provide cumulative time, but starts a new set of bonuses effective the round following the last spell cast, though benefits of a higher level spell previously cast will continue until they expire before the benefits of the last spell take effect.

Powers

Weapon Skill

Proficiency

Regardless of class, the sword owner can wield Teuvel’Khilat ambidextrously with the same capability as a single class fighter with specialization.

  • Specialization (+1 to hit, +2 damage, +1 attack per 2 rounds)
  • Ambidextrous (no penalty using off hand)

If the sword wielder has achieved specialization in any sword of the long blade group, then Teuvel’Khilat is wielded at that same level of mastery.

  • Mastery (+3 to hit, +3 damage)
  • High Mastery (+1 weapon speed, critical on natural 16+)
  • Grand Mastery (damage die type increased, +1 attack per 2 rounds)

All benefits of proficiency and specialization are gained, including additional attacks per round, hit and damage bonuses, and special maneuvers associated with the level of mastery or sword form.

Bladesong Proficiency

If the sword wielder is proficient in bladesong with a sword from the long blade group, then bladesong style can be used with equal skill with Teuvel’Khilat.

  • Bladesong (+1 AC, or +1 to hit, or attack and parry)
  • Bladesong Mastery (+2 AC, or +2 to hit , or attack and parry)
  • Bladesinger (+1 to hit, +1 damage, cancel maneuver penalties at +1 per 4 levels, defensive AC +1 per 2 levels)

Spell Sheath

The wielder can cast spells into the blade, sacrificing their magical power to enhance the sword. The spells can be cast from memory or device. The type of spell determines the magical sheath power as indicated below. The sword can only be enhanced with one sacrificed spell at a time, with a new spell immediately replacing the benefits of the previous.

Energy Sheath

If the sacrificed spell dealt damage of a particular energy type, the blade radiates that energy type, including any special properties (moonlight affecting lycanthropes, etc.). If the spell has more than one energy type, the wielder selects which type the sword radiates at the time the spell is cast. Subsequent spells with energy types immediately replace the effects of the previous spell. The energy radiated lasts for as many rounds as the spell level plus an additional round for every 3 class levels of the spellcaster. Every successful melee attack delivers an additional 1d6 of damage of that energy type, while a critical hit will deliver 1d10 instead.

Bladethirst

If the sacrificed spell doesn’t have a particular energy type, the sword’s bonus to hit increases by +1 per spell level of the sacrificed spell. The bonus to hit decreases each round until it reaches +1 which will last an additional round for every 3 levels of the caster. The wielder also gains an initiative bonus of +1 for as long a the blade retains the bonus to hit.

Sacrificing a subsequent spell only provides benefits if bonuses exceed the current bonuses (casting a fifth level when when the sword has dropped to +4 will bump the sword back to +5 for a round), otherwise the new spell is wasted.

Owl - on back.

Feature

Two owl wings of silver, gold and bronze extend from each side of the ricasso. The feathers are sharp and separated at the outer edge. In long sword form, the tines are 4 inches wide for a 10 inch wingspan. On the back side of the ricasso, the body of the owl is worked onto the blade in silver, gold and bronze work with two golden tiger's eye gemstones framed in platinum circles appearing like the owl's face.
