Powers

Proficiency

If the wielder is proficient with any sword, then Teuvel’Khilat can be used with full benefits of proficiency.

Bladesong

If the wielder is trained in bladesong with any type of sword, then Teuvel’Khilat can be used with full benefits of bladesong at the same level of proficiency. Bladesingers gain full benefits of their kit while using Teuvel’Khilat.

Specialization

If the wielder has any level of specialization with a sword, including specialization previously held, then Teuvel’Khilat can be used at the same level of specialization. Further, the wielder can use available weapon proficiency slots to gain additional levels of mastery with Teuvel’Khilat, without the required training, by learning from a kiira such as Teuvel'Kiira'Khilat.

Specialization provides the following benefits:

Critical hit on rolls of 16+, weapon speed factor is treated as 1 rank faster

Weapon damage dice are increased to the next largest die size, increased rate of attack for 1 additional attack every two rounds.

Bane

The sword has special capabilities against particular opponents. Bonuses apply to groups or specific types of opponents.

Each owner can add a new bane target or enhance the capability against an existing power. Rangers and other classes with specific species enemies have that opponent added or enhanced.

Detection

The sword can detect any of its bane targets when they are within 30’. The wielder receives an empathic warning of a bane opponent. Each encounter with a particular group or type increases the chance that the wielder can identify the type of opponent by the feeling of the empathic warning alone.

During combat, additional telltale signs may be provided by the sword. If a critical hit power of a regular power of the blade would be applied for a critical hit, then the sword may temporarily apply that regular power at the time of the hit, canceling out any other incompatible powers of the blade.

Combat Bonus

The sword grants the indicated bonus to hit and damage. Multiple bonuses can be applied based on characteristics, group and type; but only one bonus for a broad group and one bonus for a specific type can apply. The highest bonus for a group or type is applied.

Critical Hits and Special Powers

Bane bonuses include special powers applied when a critical hit is made. The power associated with the most specific category is used, selecting the special power associated with the specific type of creature, followed by the group if a specific type doesn’t apply, and finally using any power associated with the highest applied bonus from a broad characteristic.

The special power is selected from an existing critical hit power of the sword, or a new special power added specifically for that bane opponent. Existing critical hit powers take effect, even if that sword power is not currently active.

Every time a particular bane is enhanced, the existing critical hit power can be increased, or changed to a new critical hit power of the blade, or a new special power added.

Rite

Tulani Lord Sultaasarn in counsel with Khilat and Elian Khilat, granted a wish to Khilat to make the blade particularly potent against specific enemies, the Fey'ri and their allies, evil Dragons, and special enemies of the wielder. Benefits include detection of bane enemies within 30', bonuses to hit and damage, increased chances for critical hits and special purpose powers.
