Tangle Claw

This items looks like a very gnarled old tree branch about 3 feet long with a twisted main branch and two smaller branches of different lengths coming out on opposite sides. It looks similar to a typical snowman arm.

Powers

When grasped by someone in tune with nature, the shaft will twist and turn like a snake and settle into a comfortable position, often wrapped around the arm. When thrust, the main shaft and three branch ends will grow long and sharp to form the shape of a trident. Appropriate wielders having proficiency with a quarterstaff, trident or similar pole-arm can make effective use of this magical weapon. When attacking, the shaft will occasionally twist and turn for a more effective strike, giving it +2 to hit and damage.

On command the branch will grow like a vine up to 50’ long and sturdy enough for the average human to climb. The ‘hand’ can attempt to pick things up with a dexterity check and a penalty of -1 for every 10 feet of length. What is being grabbed must be clearly visible and free to move.
