Description

Saphira’s natural form is a juvenile female faerie dragon, with a sapphire blue body with bright iridescent blue butterfly wings, and a long prehensile tail able to hold onto small objects. Since becoming a bound companion of Chiliad, her typical draconian form is a miniature gold, silver or hybrid gold/silver dragon, with a touch of iridescent color, typically on the horns. She must have wings to fly using either gold or silver form, but can assume her faerie dragon form when she wants to hover. She sometimes uses a wingless form for swimming or squeezing into tight places.

Saphira is very curious and often a bit hyperactive. She often smiles showing a toothy grin, which isn’t always as friendly looking as she means. She can slow down to stalk something she’s interested in, but more often just turns invisible before investigating. While she’s a bit narcissistic and attention seeking, she is also jealous and likes to sit on Chiliad’s shoulder to show a dominant position and how close she is to him.

Background

When Chiliad summoned a special animal companion, Nathair Sgiathach sent a very special faerie dragon to serve as familiar. Princess Saphira is the juvenile granddaughter of Queen Glister and had not settled down to protect a forest glade. She had made enemies with certain members of the unseelie court and needed a safe place. Since bonding with Chiliad, she has slowly gained power and changed color, reaching a translucent sapphire blue, with associated powers. The power coming from bonding with Chiliad assures she will never leave him.

Chiliad’s special animal companions serve like wizard familiars, performing small tasks, including house hold chores, guarding Chiliad in his sleep, and delivering messages.
