The sword will communicate telepathically with opponents when it feels it can negotiate for the return of the treasure it seeks, or can avoid killing. The sword does not need to know a common language to communicate this way. It may choose to have its wielder listen in on such communications, but can also speak to others without the wielder's knowledge. It will also readily communicate with any Knight of the Order of the Forgotten Flower or other collector of elven treasures, often just saying hello with a cheery attitude.  It will always seek to be wielded by the most powerful person who shares it's desire to recover elven treasures to return to the elven nation. It will bypass potential wielder's if it believes it will not be used effectively for its purpose, especially if it must compete with a more powerful sword. When it desires a new owner and the new owner has been contacted and willing, the sword will usually ask to be given to the new owner, but it has been known to paralyze its current wielder to enable the transfer. The sword will be good natured and generally cheerful as long as it has a chance to discover and recover treasures. It considers itself an elven treasure and will use its power of paralyzation to protect itself, paralyzing others before it can be picked up.

Powers

Short Sword +2 "The Treasure Guardian"

Piir'Gisir'Nikerym is an intelligent short sword of chaotic good alignment. The sword can communicate telepathically and speaks elven and common. It can read writing, maps and magical script. It's special purpose is to recover elven magic items and treasures.

It has the following powers:

  • Detect Traps, 10' radius
  • Detect Magic, 10' radius
  • Locate Object, 120' radius
  • Teleport, 1/day, 600 lbs maximum weight
