The blade is silver with a rosie gold undertone and a mirror finish, which catches and reflects light. The base of the blade, just above the crosspiece, has a rising sun etched in gold with trim of red gold and rose gold to display hues of golden yellows, fiery reds, golden pinks and flaming oranges. The handle is dull gold with black antiquing in the grooves, nooks and crannies. The crosspiece is studded with a circle of dozens of brilliant yellow topaz gems surrounded by golden petals etched out of the gold crossbar, with the overall design forming the shape of an aster flower. The Aster flower pattern is repeated on both sides. The pommel is a large ruby carved in the shape of a newly opened red rose.

Powers

Two Handed Sword, Purifier

In the hands of a warrior, the weapon is +2. In the hands of a paladin or lawful good priest, the sword is +3 with additional powers. The sword is most potent in the hands of a crusader or paladin of Lathander, with a +4 bonus and additional powers.

Paladins and Crusaders

When a paladin holds this weapon in front of him, he turns undead as a cleric of equal level; a 3rd-level paladin turns undead with the same effectiveness as a 3rd-level cleric (use Table 19 in Chapter 4). The paladin must be of 3rd level or higher to turn undead, with or without this sword. Ghosthunters receive no turning bonus.

The sword provides two benefits to paladins of all levels: a +5 bonus against all undead; and +2 bonus to saving throws against undead magical attacks, including a ghoul's paralyzing touch and a vampire's charm.

Clergy of Lathander

When carried or wielded by a priest or paladin of Lathander, the blade will glow with a golden halo that can provide light as a candle out to 30'. The glow can be concealed by sheathing the weapon. The weapon also becomes feather light, reducing its weight to a mere 2 pounds, and speed factor to 3.

When held aloft at sunrise and the first gleam of the sun strikes the mirrored blade, all present to witness the event will see both the blade and sun flash in an instance of brilliance. At that same instance the sword is restored to a pristine condition. All nicks, scratches and battle damage are removed and the blade becomes razor sharp. At the end, the hand of the wielder is surrounded by a glow with the power of a Rosetouch spell, which can immediately mend one object or creature, as per the spell. Should the sword be in a broken condition curing this ceremony, the sword itself will be mended and restored to its full magical state, but no further objects can be mended until the next available sunrise.

Order of the Aster

When a member of the Order of the Aster holds the sword, the petals of the aster flowers of the crosspiece will change shades, turning from the dull gold of the antiqued handle, to brilliant white petals, during the day, orange petals at sunrise and sunset, with purple petals when undead are within 50 feet. Should the wielder perish is battle, the petals will turn red for 7 days, unless another member of the order claims the blade.
