Kiira of Bladesong - Falcon Style

This Kiira lore gem is a quarter inch diameter faceted topaz with an amber color and a deep rich brown center.

Powers

The Kiira has the following powers, some requiring an intelligence check to access:

• The kiira will inflict 1d8 damage per round against those attempting to wear it who are not members of the falcon totem lodge of bladesinging.
• Increases intelligence by 1 point, up to 19 maximum.
• Grants +2 to proficiency checks involving intelligence or wisdom.
• Learning spells and other knowledge based tasks are performed in half the time.
• The gem provides an empathic connection to friends and foes within 60', allowing the wearer to sense movements and intents of combatants. The kiira can enable clairvoyance and clairaudience through the eyes and ears of those who are empathically connected, with their permission. The number of connections that can be established is determined by the owner's intelligence score. The targets can save versus spell to avoid the connection.
• The gem's owner can choose to fasten the gem to a student during practice, allowing the gem to provide direct guidance to the student. The gem will remain visible on the forehead and glow in response to how well the student is responding to the gems guidance.

Over a period of time the wearer can learn proficiency in a fighting techniques, fighting style specializations, or sword specializations where the wearer is already proficient. Non-fighters can practice and gain weapon specialization. Time to acquire each proficiency is typically two months while actively training or using the weapons skills. If the wearer already has specialization in one of the weapons, then the next level of specialization is granted.

Falconblade

When the Kiira was placed on Chiliad’s forehead intersecting the silver cord of the astral falcon spirit, the Kiira bonded with the flacon spirit. Falconblade increased in intelligence to 15 and ego of 10 and can communicate via telepathy. The falcon spirit can project from its host object (initially Chiliad, but later its sword form). While the falcon essence is projected, the powers of flight and falconstrike are not available. Further, it can leave behind a small token of its spirit essence in the form of a small golden gem/kiira or plain golden ring, tangible only in the mind of the token owner. Typically one token is worn by the sword wielder, either a ring or a gem bonded to the forehead. Up to 15 tokens can be created, allowing the sword and its wielder to see and sense what is happening to the token. Empathic urges and simple guidance can be given to those possessing the tokens.

Tokens can provide empathic connections with unlimited distance on the prime material plane. The empathic connections can be used to establish clairvoyant and clairaudient connections.

This Kiira was not created to serve a House of noble elves, but was designed to be a store house for traditions and fighting skills of the Bladesingers of the falcon totem. The Kiira will only activate for the members of the falcon totem with an intelligence of 15 or better. Lord Vicorin Swordmancer created a total of 10 Kiira to support the lodge and he wore each one in turn to initiate their values and powers. He then passed them to various masters of the style.
