Each round, the wielder can choose how many pluses of the sword should be applied as a bonus to armor class. Only the swords normal pluses are eligible to be used for defending, and all pluses for special circumstances are reduced commensurate with the number of pluses transferred to defense.

If the wielder chooses to parry his opponents blows in lieu of attacking, the roll to hit included the sword pluses used for defending with an additional +2.

On command, the blade can be sheathed in impressive snarling and crackling purple bolts of electrical energy to provide shock burst capability. When the blade strikes metal or stone, it releases a shower of purple sparks. Successful hits deliver an additional 1d6 of electrical damage. On a critical hit, 1d10 electrical damage can be delivered, regardless of whether the shock power has been activated.

The wielder is immune to lightning attacks, which are absorbed by the sword. This ability is patterned after the standard Cormanthan storm sword.

When the blade is sheathed in electrical energy, it can be used to breach any known magical barrier including prismatic magic one layer per blow with no effect on the wielder.
the sword can deflect projectiles aimed at the wielder, including missiles and thrown melee weapons, but excluding magical attacks.  The number of projectiles that can be deflected in a round is equal to the number of attacks the wielder has available for the rest of the round; each deflection using up one of the attacks left in the round. The wielder may roll to hit at -4 to redirect a projectile as an attack with a range equal to the distance the projectile initially travelled.

The wielder can make a Called Shot to disarm an opponent, gaining +4 to hit (counteracting the -4 called shot penalty).

when charged, the sword can generate bolts of lightning from the sword tip; one per round for up to one hour duration. The bolts fork 10 feet from the tip and streaking another 100 feet, striking anything in their path.  Normally, each bolt delivers 9d6 points of damage, but the amount is doubled to 9d12 damage when a storm is in the immediate area. The sword recharges itself without assistance over the course of two weeks, but can be recharged by absorbing bolts of lightning equivalent to a total of at least 80d6 or 70d8.

The sword can erect a ''shield'' spell in front of the wielder at will.
Once per week, while in the presence of a storm, the wielder can call lightning strikes down from the storm. One bolt per turn for 12 turns can be called, delivering 14d8 damage each. If 5 bolts are called down to strike the sword, it effectively recharges the lightning bolt capability of the blade.

Storm Sword

Lightning Bolt;

when charged, the sword can generate bolts of lightning from the sword tip; one per round for up to one hour duration.

Call Lightning

Once per week, while in the presence of a storm, the wielder can call lightning strikes down from the storm. One bolt per turn for 12 turns can be called, delivering 14d8 damage each. If 5 bolts are called down to strike the sword, it effectively recharges the lightning bolt capability of the blade.

Feature

Purple Cat's Eye gemstones serve as the silver dragon's eyes. While not a silver dragon trait, purple eyes are common in the Khilat family line due to Deep Dragon heritage. The stones glow a faint purple when the sword activates detection magic or true seeing.
