Ice Talon is the House Blade of Khilat. It is a long sword of unusual style. The blade is distinctly Elven and crafted of from silver mithril alloy with a blue tint.

Powers

Frost Brand +4

Vel'Evaliir is intelligent with a lawful good alignment. It has an intelligence of 14 and can sing in Elvish. It will only speak through song. The blade will always sing loudly when drawn, unless instructed not to by a Harper. It can sing in harmony with anyone proficient in singing. It will improve success of any bard musical power by +1, including effects of magical musical instruments.

The blade has the following additional powers:

  • Detect Evil, 100' radius
  • Dispel Silence 2/day

The blade has an ego of 14. It prefers to be wielded by a bard, and will attempt to force its owner to turn it over to any non-evil bard that will accept it. The blade will always serve Harpers and their allies, regardless of its current wielder's desires, even accepting simple instructions unbeknownst to its owner. It will likewise harmonize with the most proficient singer in battle, starting with any Harper, followed by its wielder's allies or the wielder. Any evil creature grasping the blade must overcome the blades ego first, then must save versus a suggestion from the blade to turn it over to a more suitable wielder, often by surrendering.

History

Owned by: Marster Songsteel

Chiliad gave this blade to Eariyl who in turn gave it to Marster. Marster has a harness for his harp allowing him to play his harp after drawing his sword, when he has the time to do so. Otherwise, he may ask an ally to draw the blade for him while his harp cloaks him and his allies with invisibility.
