Chiliad gave this blade to Eariyl who in turn gave it to Marster. Marster has a harness for his harp allowing him to play his harp after drawing his sword, when he has the time to do so. Ice Talon is intelligent with a Lawful Good alignment. It has an intelligence of 16 and can speak Elvish, Silver Dragon and Draconic. The blade has an ego of 14. While the blade is Lawful Good, it will readily tolerate any good elf or dragon. It can only be wielded by members of the House of Khilat who have Draconic Heritage. For those found unworthy to wield it, it delivers 1 hit point of cold damage per round, freezing the hand within 5 rounds, the lower arm in 10 rounds, the whole arm in 15 rounds, with death after twenty rounds when the wielder fails a saving throw rechecked every round thereafter; and loosing the sword from the wielders grip usually requires shattering the frozen hand. The blade understands that it's purpose is to bring order and continuity to the house. It will always seek out and serve the leader of the house, or establish one through blade-rite when none exist. Failure in the blade-rite usually results in the loss of the wielding hand. It has rarely seen actual combat, though the Lord Protector of the House has wielded the blade in combat as the need has arisen. More often it serves in a ceremonial role.

The blade has a special purpose to defeat evil. It is especially vigilant when evil is detected within members of the Khilat House, which it will not tolerate. It is used to judge newborns within the house, as well as young elves coming of age. It is rather obsessive about killing evil dragons, typically seeking a well planned strategy to rid the world of such menaces. When pursuing its special purpose, it can disintegrate its opponents.

The blade has the following additional powers:

  • Detect Evil, 100' radius
  • Strength on self, 1/day, 8 turns
  • Project an draconic aura of Fear 1/day
