Powers
Moon Blade
At will, the sword can shed moonlight with properties similar to the Moon Blade spell, illuminating out to a 5' radius. The draconian based Moonfire infused into the blade raises its base bonus to +2 to hit and damage. The blade remains exceptionally cool to the touch.
Moonfire
When melee is engaged, the silvery moonfire that sheaths the blade makes it effective against creatures only hit by +4 or better weapons. Its strike drains vitality or life force causing an additional 1d6 points of damage to living creatures. Undead are visibly wounded by the moonfire; their substance boils away from its touch, and they suffer double base damage of the sword plus an additional 2d6 damage per blow.
On a successful attack, the moonfire temporarily scrambles an opponent's magic for the rest of the current and following round. Victims cannot cast spells, activate magic items or call on any spell-like abilities while their magic is scrambled. Active spells, enchantments and innate spell-like abilities, as well as activated magic items have their functions suspended for the same period, with any benefits or consequences of the suspended magic taking affect, as appropriate. Suspended magic resumes on the subsequent round, though magic with a fixed duration is not extended. Area based spells already in effect, but not centered or emanating from the opponent are not affected.
Moon Light
When not engaged in combat, the sword's ability to shed light is more versatile. The moonlight does not hinder infravision. The blade can replicate moon light of any intensity and season. It has qualities similar to the 2nd level priest spell Eilistraee's Moonfire, including the ability to shift around the blade or the caster.
- The intensity can range from a faint glow to a clear, bright (but not blinding) light, equivalent to that of a full moon, illuminating out to 20' as a light spell. The existing ambient light can even be dimmed within the radius of effect.
- The color of the moon light can vary in hue as desired: blue-white, soft green, white, and silver. Orange to red can be selected when emulating an eclipsed moon.
- The moonlight can be detached from the blade and directed similar to a dancing light spell, moving at a rate of 40' per round out to a maximum range of 260 yards. It can pass through the tiniest openings and fill an area as small or large as desired, in any shape up to 20 cubic feet. The detached illumination will automatically fade after 2 turns, but can be cancelled at will, requiring an additional round before it can be reactivated on the blade. While detached, the sword cannot use the Moon Blade power.
The light shed by the blade is treated as moonlight in all respects. Priests of Eilistraee, Sehanine and Selune standing within the light of the blade are treated as if they were standing in the light of a full moon. Lycanthropes are affected as if they were bathed in the light of a full moon.
Detect Elven Spirits
The wielder can detect Elven spirits within the area of shed light, including those contained in objects, magic items, animals, plants or free roaming. The current form is outlined in silver light, and the original elven form is also revealed. Simply detecting the spirit does not give the caster any special ability to communicate with or attack the entity.
Motes of Moonlight
The tip of the blade can place a mote of moonlight where it will remain for 2 hours, unless cancelled by the wielder, dispelled or negated by magical darkness. One mote can be placed per second, for a maximum of 120 motes at any given time.
Interactions
Teuvel'Khilat
- Mageblade - The Energy Sheath enhances Moonfire damage by +3, unless the sheath is powered by any other energy type than moonlight.
- Chromatic Blade - The motes can shine any color but lose their moonlight quality.
- Dancing Shadow - The Shadow Sword cancels the moonfire features of the moonblade during melee combat.
- Sunfire - Flaming and Sunshine cancel the moonfire features of the moonblade during melee combat.
- Lathander’s Blessing - Motes can shed sunlight.
- Selune's Blessing - Detached moonlight can remain for 3 hours. The Motes of Moonlight increase in count to 220 for a duration of 3 hours.

Feature
The edge of the blade has a translucent pale blue sheen like that of a moonstone that catches and reflects in moonlight. Imbedded in the blade just above the cross guard to be visible from both sides is a 1 inch round translucent moonstone that always displays an image of the moon in its current phase, regardless if the moon is visible. The moon image has a very faint glow that cannot be quenched except by the will of the wielder. All moonlight of the blade originates from this moonstone.
Rite
Lord Elian gathered 3 Starsingers and 7 Knights of the 7th Order of the Seven Sacred Mysteries, along with the silver dragon Khilat. The ceremony was held in an ancient moon temple high in the Star Mounts, under a bright full moon and clear sky in a field of Motes of Moonlight and a Moonbeam spell. The Starsingers called Draconic Moonfire onto the alter to bathe Lord Elian and the sword. Each of the knights called forth Moon Blade spells in the shapes of their preferred swords and dubbed Lord Elian and the Moonblade which absorbed each of the seven Moon Blade spells. Lord Elian cast Detect Spirits at the same moment his own spirit was bound to the blade and he watched it pass into the moonstone.
