Alter Appearance
The wearer gains the benefits of the following appearance altering powers:
- Change Self
- Alter Self
- Disguise - 1/week
The wearer can Alter Self and Change Self for an unlimited duration at will for a combined visual change to appear 75% larger or smaller.
Change Self
The illusory based power of Change Self can be used to change the wearer’s personal appearance. The wearer can appear a foot taller or shorter, fatter or thinner and as any type of humanoid. Hair, eye and skin color, along with clothing and equipment can be changed to appear as a different color, design or pattern. This illusion can be used to covering up magic items and magical effects; or provide simple visual enhancements. Many magic items can also be temporarily altered in appearance with a 50% change of size, so a long sword could appear as a short sword, a cloak as a cape, etc.
Changes do not extend beyond 2 feet from the user or held gear. The illusion does not change the size, weight or encumbrance of gear. The wearer continues to see gear in its original form and must accommodate its actual form when taking actions, taking care not to strike other objects or creatures and ruining the illusion.
The wearer’s voice and sounds can also be masked. A voice can be altered to have the harsh guttural sounds of an orc, and clinking chainmail could sound like rustling clothing.
Alter Self
The Alter Self can change the physical weight and volume of the wearer along with clothing and equipment of up to 200 pounds of personal gear by 50%. Non-magical gear can be modified; or melded into the body and later extracted at will from the original location. Magic items can save versus magic to avoid the physical alteration.
The wearer’s body and gear can undergo a limited physical alteration. If the form selected has wings, the wizard can actually fly, but at only one-third the speed of a true creature of that type, and with a loss of two maneuverability classes (to a minimum of E). If the form has gills, the caster can breathe under water as long as the spell lasts. However, the caster does not gain any multiple attack routines or additional damage allowed to an assumed form. The wearer’s attack rolls, Armor Class, and saving throws do not change. The alteration does not confer special abilities, attack forms, or defenses.
Disguise
The wearer can appear and speak like a specific person, though that person’s knowledge and experience are not provided. If the person to be mimicked is known and has been seen and heard, the mimicry is 90% effective even to others who know the person well.
When not impersonating a specific person, the wearer can choose to be utterly unmemorable. The wearer is 80% undetectable when in a crowd. It makes a wearer almost impossible to recognize after having been seen, even when no longer wearing the diadem.
