Powers

The existing Sharpness quality of the blade is enhanced with vorpal and chromatic blade qualities, shedding a light similar to the Tulani's energy sword. The sword is +3 to hit and damage.

Chromatic Blade

On command, the edge of the sword can activate a magic similar to a chromatic blade spell. A needle-fine line of brilliant chromatically shifting light forms along the blade edge shedding dim light like fairie fire, outlining the blade with 1 foot of constantly color changing illumination. The lit edge is immune to magical darkness, and is not affected by any magnetic effects or changes in light or darkness. Against creatures of shadow, the blade gains an additional +1 to hit and damage.

The edge is dangerous even to the wielder, and merely touching it causes 2d4 damage, which is added as bonus damage to any successful attack.

Opponents with armor or magical protection of +3 or better, are protected from the bonus damage. Against these and magical weapons with +3 or better, the chromatic edge will flash a brilliant light, causing blindness for 1d4 rounds to everyone within 5 feet that fail their saving throw, including the wielder if precautions haven't been taken.

Vorpal

On a very high attack roll, it will sever the head from the neck, resulting in instant death for any creature that dies from decapitation. Creatures without heads will have a random appendage severed.

Chromatic Edge:

  • 17-20 normal/armored
  • 18-20 larger than normal size
  • 19-20 solid stone or metal
  • 20 indestructible material (adamant, diamond, minor artifacts)

Prismatic

The chromatic power of the blade can destroy color spray and prismatic spray spells that come in contact with it, scattering the light harmlessly in all directions.

The chromatic edge of the blade can destroy one layer of a prismatic sphere or prismatic wall after which the chromatic power of the blade will be disabled for 24 hours. If a mighty blow is struck, the sword can cut through all layers of a prismatic sphere or prismatic wall but there is a 25% chance that the barrier will remain intact, while effects of those layers will affect the wielder all at once, though saving throws may apply.

Heritage Enhancements

Tulani Lady Ary'a'sum, in counsel with Khilat and Elian Khilat, granted a wish to Khilat to bind Eladrin and Draconic bloodlines into the sword, causing powers imbued into the blade to be more powerful and complicated. Two to three related powers can be imbued per owner, particularly if those powers correspond to innate powers of a non-Elven heritage that is dominant in the owner, or if such powers commonly appear together in standard magic items.

Heritage Activation

The blade can he used to activate latent non-Elven heritage within any of the septs of the House of Khilat. Heritage activation is primarily focused on the Eladrin and Draconic bloodlines, but other heritages within the lesser septs have been known to present. The blade owner almost always has latent heritage activated. In the case of mixed bloodlines, the most dominant line usually manifests, though hybrid results of two related heritages are not unknown.

Heritage activation can result in one or more physical characteristics emerging over time, usually taking longer if the recipient is already of adult age or older.

Innate abilities also emerge at some point, which is often dependent on the age they typically present in the heritage race; Eladrin, Draconian or other bloodlines. Actual abilities can be quite unpredictable, sometimes presenting as similar but less strong, having the same capability as that of the source bloodline, a hybridization across multiple related bloodlines or enhancement across different bloodlines.

Morphing

Due to the Silver Dragon blood enhanced Moonfire, the sword can shift its shape at will into any blade form in the broad blade group, including a dagger, short sword, scimitar, long sword, broad sword, bastard sword, great sword or two-handed sword. Shifting form restores the weapon to perfection, removing any nicks or damage. This transforming magic can even mend the sword should it ever become broken or shattered, if all the pieces are available and in physical contact.

Changing shape takes as little as half a second to complete.

Disguise

The sword can change its appearance as well, creating patterns and designs on its chosen form at will, with similar results and limitations to that of an alter self spell. It can attempt to mimic swords its owners have seen, though there is a chance the deception can fail depending on how well the sword has been copied versus how well someone knows the original.

Eladrin Song

The sword can sing with an unearthly voice. The owner can cause the blade to sing at will, but often times the sword sings of its own accord, particularly when its owner is sleeping and dreaming. The music sounds distant and indistinct and may include the sounds of instruments like elven harps and flutes, as well as singing voices, both deep and light, but the words are never clear. The words of the melody can only be heard in the owner’s dreams.

The sword's song can entrance intelligent creatures of up to 2 Hit Dice (not including undead or creatures from other planes). lf such creatures fail to save vs. spell, they are subject to a suggestion from the sword's bearer.

When the wielder casts a charm, hold, sleep, or suggestion spell while the sword sings, the duration is doubled. Furthermore, sleep can affect creatures normally unaffected by sleep spells.

Lord Belsilvar received the blessing of the Silver Pantheon through the combined power of High Magic and a Tulani granted Wish to bind Eladrin and Draconic bloodlines into the sword, causing powers imbued into the blade to be more powerful and complicated. Two to three related powers can be imbued per owner, particularly if those powers correspond to innate powers of a non-Elven heritage that is dominant in the owner, come from the owner’s special abilities or powers, or if such powers commonly appear together in standard magic items.
